Does broadcasting violence through media have an effect on today's society?

I believe media has a major impact on society today because media is expressed through many means, like television and radio. On television, media outlets show music videos that make life seem all about guns and drugs. Everybody knows that it’s affecting the youth negatively, but they are not doing anything about it. Through the radio you hear a lot of songs saying how they are going to kill this person and kill that person. How do people expect for this world to be peaceful if everything around us is encouraging us to do wrong?
