The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is comprised of 21 middle and high school students from the District of Columbia. The mission of the YAC is to develop a cadre of young leaders with critical thinking skills who will share knowledge and expertise around adolescent health issues. The YAC meets every week to develop youth led projects and insure activities implemented are meeting the needs of young people in the District of Columbia.

YAC Outreach at SE Dupont Community Center
On April 12th, 2014 the Health Education Team’s Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) presented a sex education and community outreach workshop for the Metropolitan Washington Public Health Association’s Health Disparities Committee. The workshop was held at the Fort Dupont Community Center and was developed by the YAC members to inform the community members about how to conduct effective health outreach, basic information about STDs and condom demonstrations. The workshop concluded with a fun quiz game where attendees teamed up to answer questions and test the knowledge they gained.
